Senior Storage Engineer

Role overview Lead the design and operation of large-scale Ceph storage for customer data and demanding GPU workloads. The work spans object, block, and file services, including launching managed object storage and scaling infrastructure to multi-petabyte capacity. You will combine hands-on technical direction with production operations and engineering mentorship.

Responsibilities - Design, deploy, and operate production Ceph clusters at large scale. - Set architecture and operating standards across CephFS, RBD, and RADOS Gateway services. - Help launch managed object storage with access keys, bucket controls, and service objectives. - Improve storage capacity, performance, observability, automation, and operational tooling. - Investigate distributed storage performance problems and lead production incident response. - Coordinate storage integration with compute and networking teams for GPU clusters. - Plan upgrades and infrastructure lifecycles, and mentor engineers through reviews, design work, and shared on-call.

Requirements - Extensive experience deploying, operating, troubleshooting, and tuning Ceph. - Track record running Ceph in multi-petabyte production environments. - Technical leadership across storage infrastructure, including mentoring engineers. - Advanced Linux systems and DevOps skills, including bare-metal systems and internals. - Strong networking knowledge and distributed-systems debugging ability. - Experience operating mission-critical production infrastructure and developing automation. - Clear communication and collaboration across engineering teams.

Nice to have Production experience with RADOS Gateway as a managed object-storage service or with CephFS; Ansible; monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki; cloud storage operations; storage at 10–100 PB scale; or familiarity with GPU and AI workload patterns.

Benefits and work setup The role is remote, full time, and permanent. The stated base salary range is USD 110,000–130,000, depending on experience, skills, and location, plus equity.
