Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead an engineering team that builds and operates the shared product primitives powering a SaaS trust and security platform. The team's infrastructure (comments, notifications, event logs, feature flags, and task management) is consumed by every other product team, so getting the foundation right multiplies delivery velocity for the whole engineering organization. This is a remote role based in Canada with autonomy to set direction, grow the team, and shape the platform layer.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of senior engineers and technical leads, owning hiring, team health, performance management, and delivery - Set the strategy and roadmap for shared primitives spanning comments infrastructure, notifications, event log, feature flag systems, and task management - Define and steward the interface contracts between platform systems and product teams so other teams can ship features on shared infrastructure quickly and safely - Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders to surface developer needs, surface friction in shared systems, and prioritize investments that unlock company-wide velocity - Provide technical direction across the full stack, covering data models, backend services, and UI primitives, and earn trust through sound technical judgment - Manage cross-team dependencies and stakeholder expectations across concurrent workstreams with a high degree of autonomy
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years managing engineering teams and a track record developing senior engineers and technical leads - Background leading platform, shared services, or product infrastructure teams whose output is consumed by other teams - Full-stack technical fluency with depth in backend systems, shared data models, and API design - Strong cross-functional collaborator able to define clear ownership boundaries and drive alignment across teams - Track record hiring senior engineers in a competitive market and shaping a team culture people want to join - Experience managing multi-team dependencies and delivering concurrent workstreams with limited oversight
Nice to have
- Daily use of AI tools to amplify routine work, with sound judgment about output quality
