Customer Support Specialist - Utility Services (4-months contract / Remote - Mexico or Central Time-based)

Role overview A remote, contract-based customer support role supporting renters who are setting up essential home utilities (water, electric, gas, internet) at a new address. The position blends high-volume customer service with light inside-sales activity, helping customers complete orders and understand their options across phone, text, and email channels. The contract is four months long, with the possibility of renewal based on volume and performance.

Responsibilities - Guide renters through placing utility orders and explaining the available plans for their specific address. - Make outgoing follow-up calls to renters and occasionally to utility providers to drive orders to completion. - Communicate with customers by phone, text, and email, maintaining accurate records across multiple systems and windows. - Proactively update teammates on the status of open orders and escalating issues as needed. - Pitch in with additional client or team support tasks when time allows, contributing to a small, fast-growing operation.

Requirements - Full-time availability with some weekend flexibility for the duration of the four-month contract. - Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication skills and active listening ability. - Persistent, goal-oriented mindset with comfort making outbound contact by phone, text, and email. - Highly organized, able to manage multiple open cases in a high-volume environment. - Comfortable with technology, learning new tools quickly, and working with several applications simultaneously. - Discretion when handling sensitive customer information and willingness to complete a standard background check.

Nice to have - Experience in inside sales, customer support, or a contact-center environment where commissions or performance metrics were part of the role. - Friendly, outgoing demeanor with the ability to build rapport quickly over the phone.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote; candidates must be based in Mexico or within roughly two hours of the US Central Time zone. - Independent contractor arrangement; workers use their own equipment. - Base compensation of approximately $800 USD per month plus performance-based commission, with no company-sponsored health insurance or retirement benefits.
