Role overview This senior backend engineering role focuses on building integrations with third-party scheduling systems, EMRs, and other clinical tools that support care delivery for members managing chronic metabolic conditions. The work blends backend service development, healthcare system integration, and AI agent development in a HIPAA-aware environment, partnering closely with mobile engineers, AI engineers, and clinical operations.
Responsibilities - Develop, optimize, and maintain backend services using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL databases - Architect and build scalable integrations with scheduling software, EMRs, and healthcare tools - Build AI-powered tools and AI agents that streamline decision-making and automate clinical workflows - Ensure reliability, security, and scalability in integrations with HIPAA compliance in mind - Implement event-driven architectures for real-time communication across systems - Maintain automated unit and integration tests to uphold code quality - Monitor and optimize system performance for rapid growth and high transaction volumes - Participate in on-call rotations and travel periodically to headquarters for planning and team collaboration
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM field (Master's preferred) - 5+ years of software engineering experience - Proficiency in Java with Spring Boot microservices - Strong REST API design experience, including OAuth and JWT authentication - Hands-on SQL experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and query optimization - Experience integrating third-party systems, ideally healthcare-related tools - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Nice to have - Experience in healthcare, biosensors, or related fields - Experience developing AI agents
Benefits and work setup Remote U.S.-based role with periodic travel to headquarters. Compensation range $175,000-$195,000 annually.
