ZScaler Engineer - part-time (R-00232)

Role overview A part-time senior engineering position focused on designing, deploying, and operationalizing a Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) environment as part of a Zero Trust modernization effort. The work centers on replacing legacy VPN and site-to-site tunnels with a scalable secure-access architecture supporting a large, distributed population of external users, with headroom for future workforce expansion.

Responsibilities - Configure the ZPA tenant, App Connector architecture, application segmentation, access policies, Client Connector, Browser Access, and DNS design. - Integrate identity providers (Okta, SAML, MFA, identity groups) and translate a validated proof-of-value into a secure production environment. - Plan and execute phased or wave-based migrations across multiple independent organizations, coordinating with identity, networking, security, application, helpdesk, and third-party stakeholders. - Send Zscaler telemetry and logs into a SIEM or security analytics platform (LSS and Rapid7 InsightIDR experience preferred). - Produce solution designs, as-built documentation, administrator runbooks, deployment guides, troubleshooting procedures, and end-user documentation. - Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions and transition the implemented platform to operational support teams.

Requirements - Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale ZPA environments, including App Connector sizing, redundancy, bandwidth, and capacity planning. - Proficiency with Okta, SAML, MFA, identity groups, and identity-based access policies. - Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end across endpoints, Zscaler services, App Connectors, enterprise networks, identity systems, and protected applications. - Track record of leading multi-organization migration waves with strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills. - Zscaler certification (Certified Engineer/Administrator in ZPA or Zero Trust Access) and relevant networking or cybersecurity credentials.

Nice to have - Prior experience implementing Zscaler in government, public safety, criminal justice, or other highly regulated environments.
