Solution Consultant (Android Reverse Engineer)

Role overview

A specialized security role within a global cybersecurity program focused on Android application and SDK analysis. The work involves deconstructing mobile applications to surface risks, gathering threat intelligence on Android malware, and partnering with researchers and developers to harden the broader mobile ecosystem.

Responsibilities

- Conduct deep-dive analysis of Android apps and SDKs to map codebase, architecture, and behavior - Apply reverse engineering techniques including decompilation, disassembly, and debugging - Identify user and device risks, data leakage, and malicious code execution within mobile apps - Gather, analyze, and report threat intelligence on Android malware, exploits, and emerging trends - Collaborate with security researchers and developers to share findings and recommend mitigations

Requirements

- 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in Android development, reverse engineering, penetration testing, application security assessments, or Capture the Flag competitions - Practical experience analyzing and unpacking malicious applications or SDKs using static and dynamic analysis - Proficiency with tools such as Jadx, Ghidra, Frida, IDA Pro, and Burp for binary and APK analysis - Working knowledge of mobile languages including Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, and Flutter - Familiarity with ELF (native binaries) reverse engineering and signature development (SQL, Yara, and similar)

Nice to have

- Understanding of Android fundamentals: activity lifecycles, common API usage, AOSP, and app structure - Knowledge of techniques malicious apps use to harm devices or exfiltrate data - Familiarity with mobile app store policies and app review considerations - Network traffic analysis, authentication mechanisms, encoding, and cryptography - Research experience using open-source intelligence sources such as VirusTotal, MITRE, and ExploitDB
