About this role
Role overview
This position leads the platform engineering team that powers the backbone of a live, revenue-generating trading ecosystem across futures and crypto markets. The team owns the backend and infrastructure supporting trading accounts, evaluations, third-party platform integrations, and the APIs that other product teams build on. The role is a remote, hands-on Engineering Manager position reporting to the CTO, focused on keeping systems reliable and fast while extending them for new integrations.
Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers, including running regular 1:1s, setting goals, and giving direct feedback. - Own performance management for the team, including calibration and difficult conversations when needed. - Partner with Product, Data, and other engineering teams to scope and prioritize platform and integration work. - Guide architecture decisions for scalable APIs, backend services, and microservices supporting third-party trading platform integrations. - Stay hands-on with the code by reviewing pull requests, contributing to design docs, and unblocking engineers on hard problems. - Own delivery through sprint planning, progress tracking, and incident response for production systems the whole business depends on, while raising code quality, testing, and CI/CD standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience managing or leading engineers, combined with hands-on engineering experience. - Full-stack or backend background, including frontend work in React, Next.js, or Vue and backend services in Python, Node.js, C#, or Go. - Experience with REST APIs, WebSocket services, and third-party platform integrations. - Familiarity with relational or in-memory data stores such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, or MongoDB. - Experience running production systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Docker and Kubernetes. - Comfort operating and scaling distributed systems that are already in production and load-bearing, plus strong written and verbal communication skills for working with non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Background in fintech, trading, or crypto. - Experience with real-time systems and event-driven architectures using Kafka, NATS, or Pulsar. - Familiarity with TimescaleDB or ClickHouse. - Experience managing platform or infrastructure teams that support other internal product teams. - Experience managing teams that use AI-assisted development tools day to day.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote role reporting to the CTO. - Opportunity to be a foundational member of the team running the platform the entire business depends on. - Culture that rewards ownership, curiosity, and results, with exposure to experienced traders across multiple asset classes. - Competitive base salary, performance bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
