Job details
About this role
Role overview A Product Designer role focused on the Point of Sale experience for restaurants, shaping the tools that front-of-house staff rely on hundreds of times during service. The position pairs end-to-end product design ownership with collaboration across research, product, and engineering to translate complex operational workflows into fast, intuitive, error-resistant experiences across terminal and handheld surfaces. The work centers on helping restaurant staff move with confidence during high-pressure moments.
Responsibilities - Drive the end-to-end design lifecycle for POS experiences, from early discovery and concept work through high-fidelity execution - Translate complex operational workflows such as order taking, modifications, payments, splits, and voids into fast, error-resistant, easy-to-learn experiences - Design for high-pressure service environments where users cannot pause to read instructions during a rush - Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Research to deliver capabilities across terminal and handheld surfaces, balancing technical constraints with user needs - Produce polished design artifacts that account for edge cases, hardware contexts, and the full range of restaurant service styles - Share work early through prototypes and storytelling, integrate AI-first tools to accelerate exploration, and contribute to design critiques
Requirements - Demonstrated ability to use data, business metrics, and user research to substantiate design decisions - Portfolio showing disciplined process, attention to detail, edge cases, and complex real-world constraints - Collaborative style with active stakeholder management and the dependability to influence cross-functional partners - Skill at untangling ambiguity and breaking complex workflows into intuitive end-to-end journeys - Instinct to design for speed and reliability by reducing friction rather than adding features - 3+ years of product design experience with clear progression from execution to owning broader product outcomes - Portfolio link required with application
Nice to have - Experience designing for operational environments or hardware-constrained surfaces
Benefits and work setup - Remote within the US, or hybrid options in Boston and New York; Eastern Time preferred - Salary bands disclosed by geographic pay zone, with ranges spanning approximately $104,000 to $213,000 USD depending on location - Total rewards include base salary, overtime or bonus and commissions where eligible, equity, and benefits - Hybrid working model that emphasizes in-person collaboration alongside individual flexibility - Commitment to accessibility, with reasonable accommodations available throughout the hiring process
