About this role
Role overview
This principal product role owns the data platform and self-service experience used by internal technical data teams across a restaurant technology ecosystem. The position partners closely with data engineering and governance counterparts to define the roadmap, paved paths, and tooling that enable decentralized domain teams to build and operate data products at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the platform product roadmap across catalog, semantic layer, observability, access management, lineage, and self-service tooling, prioritizing what unlocks domain independence. - Design and evolve the self-service experience, including discovery, onboarding, certification workflows, and documentation. - Run discovery with domain technical data teams to translate their needs, pain points, and maturity into platform requirements. - Define paved paths, templates, and tooling that make governance standards enforceable through the platform itself. - Drive adoption of platform capabilities, measuring usage and iterating until teams are consistently leveraging what shipped. - Maintain interoperability so that data products from any domain are discoverable, governed, and consumable by other humans and AI agents.
Requirements
- Seven or more years in product management, with significant experience in data platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure products. - Track record designing for technical users as the customer, building tools and paved paths engineers and analysts adopt willingly. - Demonstrated history of shipping platform capabilities that enable self-service at scale. - Comfort operating in strategic ambiguity, since the function is being built rather than inherited. - Deep familiarity with the modern data stack, including warehouses, orchestration, semantic layers, catalogs, data quality frameworks, and observability. - Understanding of data mesh or federated data architecture, with strong systems-thinking skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in restaurant technology, fintech, or B2B SaaS. - Familiarity with AI enablement and defining platform adoption metrics.
Benefits and work setup
Compensation is presented in geographic pay zones, ranging from approximately $149,000 to $304,000 USD. The organization follows a hybrid working approach that combines in-office collaboration with individual flexibility.
