Role overview
Shape the experience of one of the most widely embedded open-source rich text editors on the web, used inside thousands of products and web apps. As a senior product designer, you will own end-to-end design initiatives that touch millions of end users and the developers who integrate the editor, balancing functional rigor with usability and accessibility.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional design work from problem framing through delivery, partnering closely with product management to define requirements and shape UX strategy. - Validate design directions through prototypes, design critiques, user research, and stakeholder feedback. - Drive alignment and tradeoff conversations across product, engineering, and design teams. - Improve interaction quality, accessibility, and consistency across editor features and behaviors. - Collaborate with engineers on technical feasibility, navigate web platform constraints, and shepherd designs into shipped code. - Maintain and evolve the editor's design system, from design source through its implementation. - Surface experience gaps from customer feedback, competitor analysis, and industry research, and propose improvements.
Requirements
- Five or more years of product design experience working alongside software development teams, including cross-functional initiatives. - Demonstrated record of translating product goals into UX strategy with measurable outcomes. - Strong interaction design and information architecture skills for complex, constraint-heavy workflows. - Deep familiarity with keyboard, focus, and accessibility standards, and how they shape design decisions. - Experience maintaining and evolving a design system, including componentized design. - Comfort discussing modern web implementation details such as HTML, CSS, and component architecture. - Clear written and spoken communication in English, with confidence facilitating workshops and critiques. - At least four working hours of overlap with the CET timezone in a fully remote setup.
