Remote job
Product Manager, Optimizer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This is a senior product management position embedded with an engineering squad that builds an optimization engine for K–12 school master scheduling. The role sits at the junction of algorithmic systems and customer-facing experience, owning how users move from raw constraints to high-quality, executable schedules. The product combines AI-driven optimization with a UI layer designed to make complex combinatorial results approachable for non-technical schedulers.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with customers and school schedulers to surface opportunities where the optimizer can deliver better schedules - Work alongside engineers to shape enhancements to core algorithms, model builders, and orchestration pipelines, weighing tradeoffs between solve time, feasibility, and solution quality - Design and run experiments with engineering that establish consistent performance metrics such as feasibility rate, quality scores, solve time, and constraint violations - Define and break down product requirements into well-scoped stories, leveraging AI tooling to accelerate discovery, definition, and delivery - Own the end-to-end scheduler experience, including how results, tradeoffs, and edge cases like infeasible or sub-optimal solutions are surfaced and resolved - Drive goal-setting, milestone tracking, and roadmap clarity with engineering and stakeholders across the organization
Requirements
- 4+ years in B2B SaaS product organizations, with at least 3 years as a Product Manager - Hands-on experience with algorithmic, decision-support, or operations-research-style products - Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to design experiments and interpret quantitative results - Working knowledge of generative AI and AI-enabled software development practices - Proficiency with agile toolsets such as Jira, Notion, or Miro - Clear, visual communication style and a collaborative, detail-oriented approach
Nice to have
- Background in EdTech or the K–12 education sector - Familiarity with constraint satisfaction, optimization, or algorithmic product design - Experience with A/B testing or experimentation frameworks - Formal training in operations research or another technical discipline
Benefits and work setup
- Health and dental insurance, parental leave, 401(k), and equity - Unlimited PTO and access to coworking space
