Frontend Desktop Engineer (100% remote - Worldwide)

Role overview Develop and maintain a cross-platform desktop communications application built around peer-to-peer connections. You will implement product interfaces, improve performance, and help deliver real-time communication and collaboration features. The application uses React and runs on a Node.js-based peer-to-peer runtime.

Responsibilities - Build and maintain desktop application features, from interface implementation through performance improvements. - Create modular, maintainable frontend code and contribute to testing and debugging complex application behavior. - Improve rendering and memory use to support a responsive desktop experience. - Work with peer-to-peer connectivity and data replication as part of a decentralized application architecture. - Contribute to communications features involving audio, video, or real-time interaction where needed.

Requirements - Production experience with React or Preact and modern JavaScript or TypeScript. - Competence with state management tools such as Redux, Redux Toolkit, or Zustand. - Strong testing and debugging skills for frontend applications. - Interest or experience in peer-to-peer technology or distributed systems. - Comfortable communicating and collaborating in a remote, globally distributed team; strong English communication skills.

Nice to have - Desktop development experience with Electron, Tauri, or a similar runtime. - Familiarity with WebRTC, media streams, and real-time audio or video. - Experience building for macOS, Windows, and Linux. - Contributions to open-source projects, especially in peer-to-peer or decentralized technology.
