About this role

Role overview A senior product manager is needed to join a small, technically focused product team shaping the portfolio side of an AI-driven electricity trading platform. The role involves working alongside ML engineers and data scientists on forecasting, pricing optimisation, and balancing a two-sided portfolio of generators and business customers, with direct exposure to live financial risk and energy market mechanics. It suits a commercially driven PM who thrives closest to the hardest, most technical problems rather than a single fixed product surface.

Responsibilities - Translate business and customer needs into feasible, shipped product across the portfolio area, balancing scope against nascent ML and forecasting capabilities. - Set clear success criteria for model and forecast performance, designing for edge cases and the operational reality of a system carrying live financial exposure. - Drive open product decisions to a close, maintain a clear Now/Next/Future view, and decide what to formalise, prototype, or drop. - Treat hedging, imbalance, and trading decisions as product decisions, deciding when to hold, trade out, or reprice positions. - Interrogate data to influence decisions and reason about model performance and error as business indicators. - Stay close to users, including internal commercial teams and external generators and businesses.

Requirements - Proven product execution on at least one complex product area end to end, with a track record of moving real business outcomes. - Experience in or around trading (energy, financial, fintech, battery, or EV trading), with an understanding of positions, hedging, and live financial risk. - ML literacy, with enough closeness to data science teams to make sound calls on model-led products. - Comfort with data analysis throughout the product process, from validation through to measuring success. - Background in a startup, scaleup, or other high-growth environment with high personal ownership of an area. - Strong instinct for failure points, edge cases, and live-system operational reality, plus clear structured written communication.

Nice to have - Hands-on energy trading experience in intraday, day-ahead, imbalance, or battery optimisation. - Experience building products where forecasting or fulfilling a two-sided marketplace is central. - Exposure to third-party-access and international-expansion transitions. - Background in regulated industries and data-heavy products.

Benefits and work setup - Salary band of £85,000–£93,000 or equivalent in local currency. - Stock options for all team members. - 25 days holiday plus public holidays, with the option to swap public holidays and an extra day off for a birthday. - Fully remote with flexible working, defined core hours, and no internal meetings on Friday afternoons. - Annual home-working budget up to £1,200 / €1,200, plus a monthly wellbeing allowance up to £150 / €150.
