Role overview
Help validate software used in complex, time-sensitive clinical trials, with a strong focus on patient safety, data integrity, regulatory alignment, and dependable delivery. The work involves risk-based testing of web-based study solutions, documenting evidence and defects, and ensuring that requirements and releases are fit for their intended clinical use. With sufficient experience, the role may also serve as lead tester for an individual study build or change-control project.
Responsibilities
- Review requirements to confirm they are clear, testable, internally consistent, and aligned with the applicable clinical trial protocol. - Create risk-based validation plans and prepare or manage the required validation documentation. - Write and execute test scripts for clinical trial software and record results accurately. - Identify, document, prioritize, and follow defects through resolution while maintaining traceability. - Follow established quality processes and procedures for all testing activities and deliverables. - When acting as lead project tester, coordinate testing work, support assigned testers, answer testing-related questions, and help deliver study builds on schedule.
Requirements
- At least three years of relevant software testing experience, including web application testing. - Strong understanding of software testing methods, validation principles, and quality-focused delivery. - High attention to detail, analytical reasoning, curiosity, and an exploratory approach to finding issues. - Demonstrated ownership, initiative, follow-through, prioritization, and time-management ability. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - A bachelor’s degree is preferred; clinical or eClinical domain knowledge is advantageous. - Familiarity with SQL, programming, or test automation is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience coordinating testing activities or serving as the testing point of contact on a project. - Understanding of the operational and data-quality implications of clinical trial systems.
