About this role
Role overview Lead the UX function for a large e-commerce and mobile experience, connecting customer research, design quality, and measurable business outcomes. This is a hands-on people leadership role involving team development, executive communication, cross-functional strategy, and direct influence on conversion, retention, engagement, and the broader customer journey.
Responsibilities - Manage, mentor, and grow a team of UX designers while establishing consistent standards for craft, rigor, and critique. - Build a research-led design process grounded in usability findings, customer feedback, behavioral data, and other qualitative and quantitative evidence. - Partner with research, marketing, merchandising, technology, and other stakeholders to turn insights into clear design direction. - Own UX standards across accessibility, information architecture, interaction patterns, and digital commerce experiences. - Present design strategy and rationale to senior executives, translating customer and design decisions into business impact. - Prioritize concurrent UX initiatives according to customer value, business impact, timelines, and available resources, while exploring responsible uses of AI to improve design workflows.
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. - At least 10 years of UX leadership experience, including at least 2 years managing designers directly. - Experience designing direct-to-consumer e-commerce journeys and owning outcomes such as conversion rate, average order value, revenue per visitor, or cart completion. - A portfolio demonstrating research-informed, end-to-end design work with clear rationale and measurable results. - Experience defending design strategy with data when working with executive stakeholders. - Fluency with modern design and prototyping tools, plus strong communication skills across both detailed critique and strategic discussion.
Nice to have - Experience with large, attribute-rich product catalogs or business-to-business and trade environments. - Familiarity with product analytics platforms such as Amplitude or similar tools.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time, exempt, remote position with a Monday–Friday schedule and time-zone flexibility; applicants must be authorized to work full time in the United States. - Eligibility is limited to selected U.S. states, with travel to the organization’s New York headquarters approximately six times per year; reasonable required travel expenses are reimbursed. - Published base salary range: $156,088–$195,110 annually. - Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, paid leave and holidays, a 401(k) match of up to 4%, flexible spending options, employee assistance services, company equipment, a home-office stipend, and an annual professional development budget. - Additional programs support work-life balance, employee ownership, learning, recognition, and community giving.
