Role overview
Lead the product management function for a remote e-commerce organization, connecting company strategy, customer needs, technical direction, and delivery execution. The role owns the product operating model, annual roadmap, cross-functional pod performance, and development of a team of Product Managers, with accountability for measurable customer and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Set clear missions, primary success measures, and guardrail metrics for product pods. - Establish decision rights across Product, UX, Engineering, Data, and business teams, while resolving cross-pod dependencies and sequencing conflicts. - Define operating standards for opportunity framing, prioritization, roadmap decisions, experimentation, delivery reporting, and course correction. - Directly manage, coach, hire, and develop Product Managers, including leveling expectations, feedback, retention, and craft development. - Build stronger practices in customer problem definition, jobs-to-be-done, hypothesis writing, experiment design, analytics, adoption, and evidence-based prioritization. - Partner with senior technology, design, AI adoption, and business leaders to balance customer value, technical feasibility, platform health, security, reliability, scalability, and delivery speed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, information systems, engineering, economics, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; an advanced degree is preferred. - At least 10 years of product management experience, including 4 or more years managing Product Managers; experience managing managers is a plus. - Demonstrated ownership of business metrics and the ability to explain which outcomes changed and how success was measured. - Technical fluency across e-commerce platforms, APIs, integrations, data flows, enterprise systems, and platform dependencies, with the judgment to evaluate tradeoffs and work credibly with engineering leaders. - Experience leading complex initiatives across Product, Engineering, UX, Data, and business stakeholders within pod, squad, or similar cross-functional models. - Strong executive communication, delivery leadership, experimentation knowledge, comfort with ambiguity, and a bias toward shipping, learning, and reducing unnecessary process.
Nice to have
- Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, B2B distribution, or trade and industrial customers. - Familiarity with evaluating or scaling AI-enabled products and experience balancing platform investment, technical debt, security, reliability, and scalability.
