Job details
About this role
Role overview
A robotics-focused engineering team is hiring a customer-facing Applications Engineer based in Texas to design, install, and support solutions built around an innovative six-axis industrial robot. The position is heavily field-oriented, with up to 50% domestic travel to customer sites, and blends mechanical, electrical, and software work rather than pure model training or software development. Candidates should be energized by working on factory floors and solving novel automation problems alongside sales, internal engineering, and end customers.
Responsibilities
- Partner with sales teams and prospective customers to scope robotic solutions for new applications, serving as the primary technical resource through the sales cycle - Travel to customer sites to install, program, and validate robotic systems end-to-end, owning the deployment until handoff - Produce technical enablement materials such as sample code, application notes, and white papers that help customers adopt and extend the platform - Collaborate with in-house engineering to test, refine, and integrate new features as the product roadmap expands - Develop marketing collateral that communicates technical value to prospective buyers and supports go-to-market efforts
Requirements
- Hands-on background spanning electrical, software, and mechanical systems, including comfort with DC power, NPN vs. PNP signaling, Python scripting, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks - Prior experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments, with familiarity working on factory floors - Practical exposure to production or assembly settings, including understanding of cycle times, uptime targets, safety standards, and integration with existing equipment - Clear, precise communication skills across written, in-person, and technical/non-technical audiences - Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with high expectations, and a bias for delivering simple, reliable outcomes
Nice to have
- Experience mentoring customers or translating complex automation concepts into approachable documentation - Background contributing to sales enablement or product marketing content alongside engineering work
Benefits and work setup
- Base salary range of $80,000 to $120,000 depending on experience, with flexibility to adjust based on seniority level - Employee stock options for full-time staff - Benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and a 401(k) - Heavy field-based role with significant domestic travel; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
