Security Research Engineer III

Role overview This role sits on an in-house security research team and is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the internal tooling and cloud infrastructure that powers the collection of recaptured breach and malware data. It blends software engineering, infrastructure automation, and hands-on security research into one position with significant autonomy.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain internal tooling for acquiring and parsing recaptured underground data. - Build and deploy cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and Ansible. - Build and deploy automated CI/CD pipelines to test and release tooling and infrastructure changes. - Collaborate directly with researchers to support the targeting and collection of new data sources. - Continuously identify improvements and automation opportunities across data workflows and ETL pipelines. - Participate in security research, including investigating threat actors, malware, and other priorities that support the team's mission.

Requirements - 4+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in cybersecurity. - Highly skilled in Python; Golang proficiency is a plus. - Experience building internal tooling and deploying it with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible). - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a math, science, engineering, or business field. - Self-directed with the ability to identify and deliver tasks with minimal direct supervision. - Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a collaborative, curious, and flexible working style.

Nice to have - Experience delivering security analytics products to large enterprises. - Experience acquiring and processing malware-exfiltrated data. - Applying data science techniques to detect fraud or cyberthreats within datasets. - Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and designing efficient database architectures.
