Software Engineer, AI Data - Portland, OR, USA

Role overview Build and operate data pipelines that supply audio datasets for model training and new AI products. The work combines backend engineering, large-scale data processing, and collaboration with AI researchers to improve data quality and make training systems more efficient.

Responsibilities - Find audio data sources and bring them into training datasets through reliable pipelines. - Develop and improve processing systems, balancing data quality, throughput, and cost. - Work with AI researchers to refine datasets and support new model development. - Own engineering projects from initial problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

Requirements - A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - At least five years of software engineering experience and strong backend fundamentals. - Proficiency with Python and Bash in Linux environments. - Experience building and operating production systems; data pipelines or large-scale processing experience is especially relevant. - Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work independently amid ambiguity.

Nice to have - Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition, or distributed processing. - Cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly with GCP and Terraform. - Familiarity with machine learning datasets, data quality, or audio processing.
