Role overview Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications for a consumer text-to-speech reading product used by millions. This senior role blends technical leadership with hands-on coding in C#, XAML, and C++, paired with a strong focus on accessibility for users with disabilities.
Responsibilities - Drive architecture and development of Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. - Define and enforce engineering best practices spanning code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility for Windows 10/11+. - Lead accessibility efforts, integrating platforms such as Microsoft UI Automation and validating keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader support. - Partner with product design, UX research, and QA to shape the long-term roadmap for the Windows platform. - Own the full lifecycle of features from concept and design through testing, release, and maintenance. - Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering issues, proposing robust architectural fixes.
Requirements - 3+ years building Windows desktop applications with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; native C++/Win32/WinRT/COM experience is a plus. - Deep understanding of Windows application architecture and managed-to-native interop through .NET. - Track record of shipping production-quality desktop software with emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. - Hands-on experience with Windows accessibility APIs and a commitment to inclusive design. - Strong fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and asynchronous programming. - Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, run design and code reviews, and make architecture-level decisions.
Nice to have - Writing automated UI tests including unit, integration, and UI automation suites. - Performance optimization for memory, startup time, rendering, high-DPI support, and responsiveness under load. - Localization, globalization, and right-to-left UI support experience. - Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring. - Shaping CI/CD workflows and release pipelines for desktop applications. - Long-term ownership of feature areas including refactoring and technical debt management.
