About this role

Role overview Shape the future of a consumer-facing text-to-speech reading product by leading native Windows desktop development. The role mixes hands-on coding in C#, XAML, and C++ with architectural decisions, mentorship, and a strong accessibility focus.

Responsibilities - Design, architect, and build native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. - Establish best practices for the Windows codebase covering performance, memory, responsive UI, and compatibility across Windows 10/11+. - Drive accessibility work, integrating tools such as Microsoft UI Automation and validating keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader behavior. - Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, and QA to plan features and shape the Windows roadmap. - Take ownership of features across the full lifecycle from conception through release and long-term maintenance. - Investigate and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering or compatibility issues.

Requirements - 3+ years of professional Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; native C++/Win32/WinRT/COM experience is a plus. - Deep knowledge of Windows application architecture and managed-to-native interop through .NET. - Demonstrated success shipping production-quality desktop software with strong reliability and performance. - Hands-on experience with Windows accessibility APIs and inclusive design. - Strong fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and async programming. - Track record of mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and influencing architecture.

Nice to have - Building automated UI tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers. - Performance tuning for memory, startup, rendering, high-DPI support, and responsiveness under load. - Localization, globalization, and right-to-left UI support. - Telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring. - Designing CI/CD workflows and release pipelines for desktop software. - Long-term ownership of feature areas with attention to refactoring and technical debt.
