Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences - Malmö, Sweden
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior engineering role on a Core Experiences team based in Malmö, Sweden, focused on the foundational services and SDKs that power a cross-platform audio-based productivity product. The position sits at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly shape how end users experience the product day to day. It suits someone who enjoys pairing strategic thinking with hands-on coding in a high-growth, fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with product teams to scope initiatives, trim scope for faster customer feedback, and weigh integration and UX tradeoffs across surfaces. - Improve existing functionality by designing better abstractions, sharpening algorithms, and delivering measurable wins such as faster load times and more intelligent parsing. - Build and maintain cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin. - Contribute to a cross-platform SDK that multiple product teams rely on, keeping the developer experience clean and the surface area consistent.
Requirements
- Strong systems thinking, with the belief that real optimization requires end-to-end design and that simplicity is a feature. - A bias for speed: generating ideas quickly, evaluating options, and deciding what can ship now versus what needs more time. - Comfort operating autonomously within a busy, remote-first team, knowing when to engage and when to go heads-down. - Proven collaboration skills with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers, including the ability to inspire, negotiate, and play well. - Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform; equivalent Java background is acceptable but the role is Kotlin-first.
Nice to have
- Prior experience building or operating services on Google Cloud Platform. - Background in SDK design, developer tooling, or platform engineering.
Benefits and work setup
- Sweden-based position with a salary range of 30,000–115,000 USD per year, plus bonus and equity, depending on experience. - Entrepreneurial team culture that supports risk-taking, intuition, and hustle, paired with a hands-off management style. - Friendly, laid-back atmosphere with a strong commitment to asynchronous ways of working. - Opportunity to ship a product used by millions, including tools that directly support people with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, concussions, and autism. - Work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, one of the faster-growing segments in technology.
