Senior Software Engineer, Core Experiences - Malaga, Spain

Role overview

A senior software engineer is needed to join a Core Experiences team that builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs behind a cross-platform audio information product. The position sits at the intersection of product and infrastructure, well suited to an engineer who enjoys designing clean APIs, simplifying systems, and thinking strategically about how platform choices shape end-user behavior. Day-to-day work centers on Kotlin-based cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and a shared SDK consumed by multiple product surfaces.

Responsibilities

- Partner with product teams to scope projects, narrow scope in pursuit of faster customer feedback, and navigate integration and UX trade-offs delivered through the cross-platform SDK - Improve existing functionality by introducing better abstractions, tightening algorithms, and shipping faster loading times along with smarter parsing - Build and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs primarily in Kotlin - Design APIs and shared components that stay simple, reliable, and easy for other teams to extend - Influence technical direction on a team where infrastructure work has an outsized impact on the user experience

Requirements

- Systems-thinking mindset with an emphasis on end-to-end design and a strong bias for simplicity - Ability to move quickly, generate multiple options, and judge what can ship now versus what needs more time - Comfort operating in a high-growth, remote-friendly environment, knowing when to engage and when to focus independently - Strong collaboration skills when working alongside opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers - Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, with Java background considered acceptable as a starting point - Prior production experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus

Nice to have

- Background in SDK design or cross-platform mobile engineering - Familiarity with cloud function deployment patterns and lightweight backend architectures
