Job details
About this role
Role overview
Join a high-growth, remote-first organization as a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Experiences Team, the group responsible for the foundational services and SDKs that power the product across platforms. This role sits at the intersection of product and infrastructure, ideal for an engineer who thinks strategically about clean APIs and simple systems that directly elevate the end-user experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams to scope initiatives, trim scope where appropriate, and navigate integration and UX trade-offs while delivering solutions through a cross-platform SDK. - Improve existing functionality by designing more efficient abstractions and tuning algorithms for faster loading and smarter parsing. - Build and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs in Kotlin. - Make architectural decisions that balance simplicity, reliability, and performance across the stack. - Translate user-facing feedback into iterative technical improvements.
Requirements
- Strong systems thinking with a bias for end-to-end design and simplicity. - Ability to move quickly, weigh options, and decide what ships now versus what needs more time. - Self-direction in a busy, remote, startup-paced environment, knowing when to engage and when to go heads-down. - Track record of constructive collaboration with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform; Java background is acceptable. - Prior work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Benefits and work setup
- Switzerland-based compensation range of 30,000 to 160,000 USD per year, plus bonus and equity, depending on experience. - Remote-first, asynchronous culture with a hands-off management style. - Entrepreneurial team that supports risk-taking, intuition, and hustle. - Friendly, laid-back atmosphere with the chance to shape product and company direction. - Mission-driven work supporting users with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, low vision, concussions, and autism, in the fast-moving AI plus audio sector.
