Role overview
Join a high-growth technology company as a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Experiences team, working out of Coimbra, Portugal. The team is responsible for the foundational services and SDKs that power a widely used audio-based information product across multiple platforms. This is a strategic role for someone who enjoys sitting at the intersection of product and infrastructure, designing clean APIs and simple systems that meaningfully improve the user experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with product teams to scope initiatives, trim scope to accelerate customer feedback loops, and weigh integration and UX tradeoffs across surfaces - Deliver features through a cross-platform SDK, optimizing for faster load times and smarter parsing through better abstractions and algorithms - Build and ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and asynchronous jobs using Kotlin - Improve existing functionality by identifying bottlenecks and shipping more efficient implementations - Act as a trusted technical voice in cross-functional discussions with designers, marketers, and product managers
Requirements
- Strong systems thinking with an emphasis on end-to-end design and simplicity - Demonstrated ability to move quickly, generating options and making sound ship-or-wait decisions - Comfort operating autonomously in a busy, remote-first, high-growth environment, knowing when to engage and when to focus - Proven collaboration skills, including the ability to negotiate and build trust with opinionated peers across disciplines - Hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (Java background acceptable) - Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform is a plus
Nice to have
- Experience designing APIs or SDKs consumed by multiple product teams - Background in audio, accessibility, or assistive technology products
