About this role
Role overview Solutions Architect role within an AI-powered observability business unit that unifies logs, metrics, and traces across petabyte-scale telemetry data. The position owns the architecture layer of the post-sales practice, designing durable, scalable observability systems that implementation engineers and customers can build on for years. It suits a practitioner who has moved past hands-on execution into architectural thinking across complex enterprise environments.
Responsibilities - Lead technical discovery alongside implementation engineers, assessing existing telemetry, infrastructure, data volumes, tooling landscape, and operational requirements - Design end-to-end observability architectures covering ingestion, pipeline topology, data modeling, enrichment and normalization, alerting design, and long-term retention - Author reference architectures, design decision records, implementation plans, and configuration standards; serve as a technical authority on complex or novel customer scenarios - Define phased cutover strategies for migrations from incumbent observability platforms, minimizing disruption to production operations - Validate proposed configurations and data models against production-scale requirements, and conduct formal go-live architecture reviews - Build and maintain realistic field demo environments, capture reusable patterns from engagements, and feed field insights back to product and engineering teams - Mentor implementation engineers and act as a force multiplier by setting the technical tone and standards on engagements
Requirements - 8+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Solutions Architect, Staff/Principal engineer, observability engineer, or SRE), with a demonstrated shift from execution to architecture-level thinking - Deep expertise with observability platforms and telemetry systems at scale, including data modeling tradeoffs across logs, metrics, and traces - Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, including instrumentation strategies, collector configuration, exporters, and multi-signal pipeline design - Proven ability to design or lead migrations from commercial observability platforms to modern alternatives - Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerized workloads, and Kubernetes-based environments - Strong communication skills, credible with both hands-on engineering teams and senior technical leadership - Experience producing high-quality technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, design decision records, runbooks, and implementation plans
Nice to have - Background in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps with firsthand experience operating production observability at scale - Exposure to AI-assisted observability or AIOps - Experience authoring internal standards, reference architectures, and enablement content for pre-sales or post-sales teams - Familiarity with Kubernetes-native observability patterns and cloud-native monitoring tooling - Experience working in or alongside professional services organizations
