Greenhouse - Software Engineer

Role overview A Software Engineer opening on a Talent Discovery team that builds the search, ranking, and matching experiences behind an enterprise hiring platform. This is a roughly 12-month, full-time independent contractor engagement in Argentina, engaged through a Contractor of Record, focused on shipping production code for talent matching and rediscovery features with a strong AI/ML relevance angle.

Responsibilities - Build and maintain web-based applications supporting talent matching, talent rediscovery, and related employer-facing experiences. - Work across the stack on backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend code. - Develop and tune search and matching systems with a focus on OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance. - Apply AI/ML techniques to matching, ranking, and search relevance in production. - Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Applied ML partners in ambiguous, user-facing problem spaces. - Build evaluation, observability, testing, and feedback mechanisms for search and matching systems, balancing relevance, latency, reliability, cost, and user experience.

Requirements - 5+ years writing production software. - Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred. - Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React. - Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development. - Production experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance considerations. - Experience building or working with search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems. - Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques to production applications. - Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

Nice to have - Strong experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch at scale. - Background in semantic search, embeddings, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems. - Experience with analytical databases and distributed or remote engineering environments.

Benefits and work setup - Independent contractor engagement in Argentina, structured through a Contractor of Record (Deel). The contractor may serve other clients, controls the manner and means of the work, and this is not an employment relationship under Argentine Law 20,744; no social benefits or labor entitlements are created. - Remote within Argentina, collaborating with a distributed team based in the US and Canada, with reasonable availability expected for stakeholder coordination. - Approximately 12-month duration, non-exclusive.
