Role overview
A consulting firm that partners with federal civilian agencies and Department of Defense clients is hiring a Senior Java Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise web applications. The role is fully remote and requires an active Public Trust clearance. The work centers on Java/Spring Boot backend development, cloud-native integration on AWS, and supporting mission-critical systems with a strong emphasis on security and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop web applications using Java and Spring Boot - Build and maintain backend services supporting profile management, identity lookup, and data validation and synchronization - Integrate applications with AWS services such as API Gateway, RDS, S3, and messaging components, plus external authentication systems - Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise and Authority to Operate (ATO) standards - Design scalable architecture patterns, including robust error handling and structured logging - Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements and integration strategies, participate in code reviews, and enforce development best practices - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
Requirements
- Seven or more years of professional Java development experience - Strong expertise in Spring Boot and the broader Spring Framework - Hands-on experience designing and building REST APIs - Proficiency with relational databases and SQL - Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-native development patterns - Solid understanding of application security and authentication mechanisms - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
