Senior Developer

Role overview A remote senior engineering position designing and maintaining a secure, scalable cloud-based integration layer for federal-adjacent customers. The role focuses on real-time and event-driven data exchange across enterprise systems and carries a Public Trust clearance requirement. It combines hands-on AWS development with technical leadership over junior engineers.

Responsibilities - Design and implement RESTful APIs using Amazon API Gateway alongside backend services such as AWS Lambda and EC2. - Build and operate cloud-native data solutions on Amazon RDS, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and transactional consistency. - Develop event-driven architectures using Amazon S3, SQS, and SNS for asynchronous processing and file-based workflows. - Apply security best practices including IAM roles and policies, VPC configuration, encryption at rest and in transit, logging, audit controls, and Authority to Operate compliance. - Collaborate with internal teams and external system owners to define integration patterns, API contracts, and deployment strategies. - Automate infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as CloudFormation or Terraform, monitor system performance, and tune for cost, scalability, and availability. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers while aligning work with enterprise architecture and governance standards.

Requirements - Approximately fifteen or more years of software development experience with a strong AWS focus, including hands-on work with API Gateway, Lambda, and EC2. - Practical experience with Amazon RDS databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, plus S3, SQS, and SNS. - Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and integration patterns, with experience implementing secure, compliant systems in environments such as ATO or FedRAMP. - Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and a solid grasp of networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, and security groups. - Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch. - Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Benefits and work setup - Remote position with a stated base salary range of $162,000 to $177,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package. - Compensation is benchmarked to local labor costs for the role, level, and location.
