Engineering Technician 4, Quality Assurance (R5977)

Role overview This senior-level Engineering Technician position focuses on quality assurance for an advanced aircraft prototype program, supporting both ground and flight testing. The role is highly hands-on, bridging quality, manufacturing, test, and design engineering to confirm prototype hardware meets defined requirements and to drive issue resolution across the development cycle.

Responsibilities - Perform in-process, final, pre-test, and post-test inspections of prototype airframe hardware and assemblies. - Inspect mechanical, electrical, structural, composite, and electromechanical components using appropriate measurement tools, verifying configuration, workmanship, dimensions, torque, installation, and traceability. - Confirm ground and flight test readiness by ensuring all required inspections and documentation are complete. - Document hardware condition after testing, capturing damage, failures, and abnormal findings with measurements, photographs, and inspection results. - Identify, document, and contain nonconformances, supporting Material Review Boards, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions. - Maintain accurate inspection, configuration, and quality records for serialized prototype hardware, and contribute to improvements in inspection plans, checklists, and acceptance criteria.

Requirements - 10+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, aviation, or a closely related technical field. - Hands-on experience with inspection, testing, manufacturing, or troubleshooting of complex aerospace hardware. - Experience supporting prototype development or flight testing. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

Nice to have - Experience with UAVs, aircraft, flight hardware, or aerospace structures. - Familiarity with GD&T, composites, electrical systems, or electromechanical assemblies. - Experience with nonconformance handling, MRB, RCCA, or failure investigations. - Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
