Senior Security Engineer

Role overview A regulated Canadian financial technology company focused on bitcoin and everyday crypto financial products is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to safeguard infrastructure, products, and customer data. The role spans application, product, infrastructure, enterprise, and observability security, with AI treated as a core lever rather than an add-on. You will partner closely with engineering, platform, risk, compliance, and product to build pragmatic controls in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Responsibilities - Design and drive security solutions across product, internal applications, infrastructure, enterprise systems, and observability - Run threat modeling for existing systems and new product initiatives - Embed security into development and delivery workflows in partnership with engineering teams - Build, tune, and automate security alerts, detections, and response workflows using AI and agents where they increase scale and effectiveness - Participate in and help lead incident response as part of the on-call rotation - Support governance, compliance, and regulatory efforts such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI - Mentor engineers and shape security priorities and technical direction across the organization

Requirements - 5+ years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, with meaningful security depth - Strong technical depth in one or more security domains and the ability to operate across adjacent ones - Advanced, hands-on experience using AI tools, agents, and automation to scale security engineering work - Cloud experience, ideally on AWS - Hands-on experience with incident response and on-call rotations - Strong communication, technical judgment, and ownership mindset

Nice to have - Background in fintech, crypto, or other regulated environments - Exposure to product security and influencing product design - Experience with AI-assisted security testing, offensive security, vulnerability research, detection engineering, or security observability - Familiarity with Bitcoin and comfort using Git and GitHub for collaboration
