Ruby Developer Advocate

Role overview This role pairs professional Ruby development with public technical advocacy for an engineering-first organization. The advocate supports developers building on Ruby and Rails, produces educational material, and represents the organization across community channels. It is a remote-first position suited to someone who enjoys both writing code and engaging with the wider Ruby community.

Responsibilities - Develop tutorials, sample applications, and API walkthroughs aimed at Ruby and Ruby on Rails developers - Engage the community through blog posts, talks, podcasts, conferences, and online discussion channels - Convert internal product direction into messaging that resonates with external developers - Gather structured feedback from the field and surface it to product and engineering teams - Maintain reference integrations with popular Ruby libraries, gems, and testing tools

Requirements - Solid professional background building production systems with Ruby, ideally including Ruby on Rails - Demonstrated record of technical content creation or public community involvement - Comfort with fully remote work, written async collaboration, and self-management - Ability to balance coding tasks with community-facing communication
