Role overview This position owns supplier quality for outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) partners, ensuring each vendor operates an effective Quality Management System and meets industry certification standards. The role blends strategic governance, performance analytics, and cross-functional partnership, with a clear mandate to drive continuous improvement toward zero-defect, zero-complaint outcomes. It reports into a Supplier Quality Engineering leadership function and carries significant authority over supplier qualification strategy.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain supplier quality strategy, governance frameworks, and training programs to ensure vendors fully understand internal quality and reliability requirements. - Plan and execute a range of audits (QMS, manufacturing process, preventive, SCAR, product) and drive immediate closure of any gaps or non-compliances. - Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defect rates, prevent customer complaints, and embed best practices such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC. - Track and communicate supplier performance through scorecards, quarterly reviews, and quality or management meetings, requesting corrective actions as needed. - Partner with design and manufacturing engineering to define process parameters, support new product launches, and review non-conforming material dispositions. - Coordinate end-customer audit readiness, respond to findings, and share lessons learned and best-known methods across the supplier network.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience. - Minimum of three years of quality control experience within semiconductor manufacturing, assembly, and final test operations. - Proficiency with quality analysis tools including 8D, PPAP, and PFMEA. - Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to teach techniques and facilitate team-based problem-solving events. - Hands-on experience developing part certification processes and vendor quality measures. - Solid communication and interpersonal skills for leading engineers and inspectors, plus familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 9000 requirements.
Nice to have - More than five years of semiconductor quality control experience, particularly across assembly and final test. - Background in process engineering. - Experience working with MEMS products.
