Implementation Specialist, CMMC
Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead hands-on implementation projects for customers pursuing CMMC and related defense readiness certifications. Serve as the primary customer-facing owner for execution, coordinating across internal teams, partner organizations, and customer stakeholders from kickoff through assessment readiness. This is an early team-building role focused on defining a repeatable, high-trust implementation motion rather than a traditional onboarding position.
Responsibilities - Own end-to-end implementation delivery, guiding the customer experience through kickoff, configuration, remediation, and formal handoff. - Translate customer requirements into clear plans with scoped environments, timelines, milestones, owners, dependencies, and measurable success criteria. - Help customers operationalize CMMC requirements, including Level 1 FCI basics, Level 2 CUI handling, NIST SP 800-171 controls, SSP and POA&M workflows, evidence collection, asset inventory, and audit-readiness preparation. - Identify where Controlled Unclassified Information currently lives across email, file sharing, cloud apps, endpoints, engineering systems, facilities, and third-party providers. - Coordinate configuration work across platform setup, control mapping, evidence automation, policies, procedures, owner assignments, remediation tracking, and readiness reporting. - Support secure-environment planning covering identity, endpoint management, logging, network segmentation, government cloud considerations, workspace hardening, virtual desktops, and physical controls.
Requirements - Demonstrated project leadership on customer-facing implementations, ideally in compliance, security, or regulated environments. - Working familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, CUI and FCI handling, and defense supply chain expectations. - Ability to read technical environments and drive accountability without personally performing every remediation task. - Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping shape new delivery playbooks, handoffs, and service packaging. - Strong coordination skills across sales, customer success, product, engineering, partners, and customer stakeholders.
Nice to have - Prior exposure to C3PAO readiness, MSSP/MSP-led remediation, or defense industrial base customers including primes, subs, universities, and small businesses.
Benefits and work setup - Industry-competitive salary plus equity. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents. - Flexible time off policy. - 401(k) plan and paid family leave. - Remote-friendly working style with occasional travel for strategic implementations, team planning, or partner events. - Required travel by air to team offsites two to four times per year.
