About this role

Role overview

Lead the creation of a centralized data and analytics function for a growing organization. This is a hands-on, player-coach position responsible for establishing the data architecture, governance, integrations, reporting, and analytical practices that turn fragmented information into a trusted source of truth. The role combines long-term strategy with direct technical execution and close partnership with leaders across finance, revenue, operations, product, engineering, people, and service teams.

Responsibilities

- Design the data warehouse, cloud platform, pipelines, models, semantic layer, and business intelligence foundation. - Define governed KPI definitions, ownership, lineage, documentation, and quality standards across business units. - Build automated dashboards and recurring management, executive, board, and investor reporting. - Integrate data from enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, planning, human resources, product, contracts, programs, and third-party systems. - Establish the roadmap, intake process, code review practices, documentation standards, vendor management, and tooling budget for the function. - Hire, mentor, and develop an analytics team as organizational needs grow.

Requirements

- At least 8 years of experience in data, analytics, or business intelligence, including 3 or more years leading a function, team, or company-wide initiative. - Demonstrated success building an analytics capability from an early or limited starting point. - Advanced SQL and practical ability to architect and build across modern cloud data stacks, transformation frameworks, ingestion tools, semantic layers, and BI platforms. - Working knowledge of SaaS and financial metrics such as recurring revenue, retention, acquisition economics, margins, and cohort performance. - Experience producing accurate reporting for executives, boards, investors, or similarly high-scrutiny audiences. - Ability to use Python or R for analysis beyond what SQL can reasonably support, and to communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice to have

- Experience supporting mixed revenue models such as subscriptions, government or grant-funded work, and professional services. - Familiarity with audit, compliance, or regulated-industry reporting expectations.

Benefits and work setup

This is a full-time role with flexible remote work, limited to approved hiring hubs in the Washington, D.C. area; Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill; Denver-Colorado Springs; or Dallas-Fort Worth. The stated base salary range is $200,000-$230,000, with potential equity and discretionary bonus eligibility. Benefits include employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement contributions, wellness support, paid time off, federal holidays, parental leave, home-office and professional-development stipends, and an employee referral program.
