Job details
About this role
Role overview
A mid-market sales engineering role focused on helping traditional physical-operations businesses adopt connected IoT technology. The position pairs hands-on technical pre-sales work with field deployment guidance across logistics, fleet, construction, manufacturing, and similar essential industries. It is a remote, travel-heavy opportunity based in the U.S. Midwest region.
Responsibilities
- Partner with account executives on technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, value assessments, and proof-of-concept deployments for mid-market prospects. - Translate customer business problems into solution designs spanning IoT hardware, sensors, cloud data infrastructure, and open-API integrations. - Walk field installers and customer teams through hardware installation best practices and rollout planning. - Build scripts against the platform's open API that solve real operational challenges, then document them for peer reuse. - Serve as a trusted technical advisor after the sale, surfacing expansion opportunities through integrations, upsell, and cross-sell. - Relay field-driven product feedback to internal product teams and recruit the right customers into beta programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree as the minimum educational baseline (the specific field was cut off in the source listing). - Demonstrated ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders across varied industries. - Working knowledge of IoT hardware, sensors, carrier-network data collection, and cloud infrastructure concepts. - Comfort writing scripts against a web-based API and explaining integration approaches to non-technical buyers. - Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within the Midwest region. - Residence in the Midwest U.S., excluding the San Francisco Bay, New York City, and Washington D.C. metros.
Nice to have
- Proximity to an international airport to support frequent regional travel. - Background in fleet telematics, video-based safety, equipment monitoring, or driver workflow solutions.
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote within the Midwest U.S. with up to 50% travel; international airport access preferred. - Flexible working model where most teams operate remotely, with optional in-office collaboration where it adds value.
