Principal Business Systems Analyst

Role overview

A Core IT organization is hiring a Principal Business Systems Analyst to lead its highest-impact, cross-functional programs. This senior individual contributor role tackles ambiguous problems that span multiple systems and stakeholders, and the frameworks and judgment applied here become the standard other analysts adopt. The position partners directly with IT leadership and senior business stakeholders to shape how internal technology and process strategy operate going forward.

Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end delivery of the team's most consequential projects and programs, from problem definition through implementation, spanning multiple systems and business domains. - Frame the problem space for the organization's most significant ambiguous issues, and advise IT leadership on how to think about entire classes of strategic challenges. - Build requirements practices, frameworks, and standards that other analysts adopt, raising the bar for how the team approaches requirements gathering, process design, and systems thinking. - Serve as a trusted advisor to IT leadership and senior business stakeholders on organizational design, systems architecture, and process strategy. - Manage cross-functional engagement on owned programs, including requirements gathering, resource coordination, timeline planning, and stakeholder communication. - Drive operational excellence by developing deep insight into IT engineering, support, and operations (financials, services, performance metrics, and SLAs) and partnering with management to inform decision-making. - Evaluate and refine business processes, and propose improvement strategies that scale across the organization.

Requirements

- Significant experience leading complex, cross-functional IT or business systems programs end-to-end. - Ability to define ambiguous problem spaces and build frameworks that others adopt. - Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience advising senior leadership on systems and process strategy. - Demonstrated track record of developing requirements practices and standards that elevate team capability. - Deep familiarity with IT operations, including financials, SLAs, performance metrics, and service delivery models. - Experience evaluating business processes and recommending scalable improvements.
