Role overview

Engineering Manager leading an AI/ML engineering team that builds applied product capabilities and foundational ML platforms for a regulated healthcare organization. Responsibilities

- Lead and coach a team of Senior and Staff engineers working across both applied AI features and ML platform infrastructure - Drive delivery of user-facing product capabilities while simultaneously shaping backend AI/ML systems across multiple release cycles - Apply rigorous clinical safety judgement and compliance discipline to model development, evaluation, and deployment - Architect and evolve core ML infrastructure including feature stores, MLOps pipelines, model deployment, and AI observability platforms - Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing, AI-native engineering group and foster a high-talent-density culture

Requirements

- 8+ years of professional software engineering and machine learning experience, including 5+ years designing and deploying distributed backend systems in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP - 3+ years of direct engineering management experience hiring and managing Senior and Staff-level engineers - 3+ years technically leading or building core ML infrastructure such as feature stores, MLOps pipelines, model deployment systems, or AI observability platforms - 2+ years directing or developing production-grade applied AI features, with focus on LLM integrations (NLP, transcript summarization, RAG) or search, ranking, and relevance engines - Proven operational track record managing both user-facing product features and backend platform work across multiple production release cycles

Nice to have

- Experience shipping advanced AI systems in high-stakes, regulated environments such as HealthTech or FinTech, with fluency in HIPAA-style privacy and compliance without sacrificing engineering velocity - Hands-on experience designing production-ready LLM evaluation frameworks combining automated metrics, LLM-as-a-judge, and human-in-the-loop processes to mitigate hallucinations and bias - A defined, practiced philosophy on using AI to multiply engineering output, including coding agents and advanced AI dev tooling - A clear, communicable framework for prioritizing the tension between short-term product delivery and long-term platform investments
