About this role
Role overview A senior individual-contributor role at Technical Director level serving as the top technical authority for public-cloud architecture within a global professional services organization. The position sets the worldwide architectural direction for how complex platforms are designed, deployed, and operated across multi-region, multi-cloud, and multi-regulator estates, then carries that direction personally into the most strategic customer engagements.
Responsibilities - Own the global cloud architecture standard: reference architectures, design patterns, guardrails, and documented anti-patterns used across the practice. - Serve as the final technical escalation point for cloud architecture decisions on the most complex, highest-visibility customer engagements worldwide. - Lead architecture and design on flagship accounts and first-of-a-kind deployments, defending design decisions in front of customer architecture review boards and acting as trusted advisor to CIO, CTO, Chief Architect, and CISO stakeholders. - Partner with sales and pre-sales on strategic pursuits, providing honest technical validation, level-of-effort estimation, and risk assessment. - Build reusable technical IP — deployment automation, design templates, decision trees, and delivery accelerators — that multiplies the capability of every architect and consultant in the field. - Define cloud competency standards, mentor senior consultants globally, and channel field learning back into product roadmap, supportability, and delivery methodology.
Requirements - 15+ years of overall experience, including 8+ years as a hands-on cloud architect at enterprise scale. - Demonstrated ownership of architecture for multi-region, multi-account, or multi-subscription cloud estates in a large enterprise or professional services setting. - Expert-level AWS and Azure; GCP strongly preferred, with depth across compute, storage, networking, identity, and encryption/key management. - Deep understanding of enterprise data protection and cyber resilience, including RTO/RPO modelling, backup design, and air-gapped recovery. - Working fluency in cloud security and compliance frameworks and how they constrain design in regulated industries. - Strong automation background with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep), Python or PowerShell scripting, API-first integration, and CI/CD pipelines. - Executive-grade communication and a track record of influence without authority across a global, matrixed organization.
Nice to have - Evidence of building reusable technical IP, not just delivering projects. - Prior experience learning a complex platform to expert depth quickly.
