Role overview

A Software Engineer in Test position focused on strengthening testing and automation capabilities for data science products. The engineer will help ensure data services, models, and insights remain accurate, reliable, and ready to scale across the software delivery pipeline. The role blends infrastructure building, hands-on test authoring, and quality advocacy throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

- Design and build test infrastructure powering automated regression suites for data science microservices - Diagnose and resolve automation failures across multiple environments - Improve the performance, reliability, and stability of automated test suites - Develop test strategies and high-impact test cases aligned with product requirements - Review product requirements for alignment with design and quality guidelines - Partner with engineers on end-to-end system testing and post-deployment validation - Identify, isolate, document, and verify fixes for product defects - Champion quality practices at every stage of the development lifecycle

Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in a developer, SDET, or QA automation role - 3+ years coding in Python (preferred); exposure to Ruby, Bash, or JavaScript is a plus - Experience testing APIs and databases - Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Pytest - Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, New Relic, or equivalents - Experience with CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI or GitHub Actions - Ability to write and analyze SQL queries - Cloud experience, ideally AWS - Proficiency with tools such as GitHub, JIRA, and Postman - Track record of writing clean, stable, and maintainable code - Solid understanding of testing methodologies and automation approaches - Strong troubleshooting and communication skills - Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with short release cycles

Nice to have

- Familiarity with performance testing and related tooling - Exposure to data science concepts - Experience testing machine learning models - Familiarity with Kafka, Groundcover, Sentry, or MLflow - Understanding of the full application development lifecycle
