IT Automation Engineer - Business Technology (Central/Mountain Time - US)
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A remote IT Automation Engineer role embedded in a Business Technology team, focused on replacing manual IT work with reliable scripts, workflows, and integrations. The position also involves hands-on administration of identity, endpoint, and collaboration platforms, so the automation is grounded in real ownership of those systems. It is well suited to an engineer who wants to combine scripting, platform administration, and AI-assisted productivity in one role.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation scripts and workflows in PowerShell, Python, or Bash that streamline IT service delivery and endpoint provisioning. - Build automated workflows across user, device, and identity lifecycles using Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Jamf, plus API and webhook integrations. - Instrument automations with logging and alerting, tracking hours saved and errors reduced rather than only whether a workflow ran. - Administer and support collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. - Use AI tools to accelerate scripting, troubleshoot failures, and draft technical documentation, with human verification before production changes.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related role, including hands-on automation scripting. - Practical experience administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. - Demonstrated use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to build, ship, or automate a working solution. - Located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone with working hours aligned to that zone.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote-first role within the U.S. with up to 10% travel expected. - Base pay range of $75,000 to $115,000 per year plus a discretionary bonus target of 10% of annual base salary. - Medical, dental, and vision benefits with company HSA contributions starting on day one, plus a 6% 401(k) match. - Twenty days of PTO, nine company holidays, two floating holidays, sick days, wellness days, and a paid volunteer day, scaling up with tenure. - Twelve weeks of primary caregiver leave, four weeks of secondary caregiver leave, life insurance at two times salary, and a $65 monthly remote work stipend for internet.
