Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build the data foundations that let teams use information from two businesses in one coherent platform. You’ll assess existing systems, set a practical direction for a data environment spanning AWS and Azure, and deliver reliable data models and integrations that support analytics, operations, and future customer-facing products.
Responsibilities
- Map data needs across engineering, product, finance, sales, and operations; assess current infrastructure and propose a scalable platform plan. - Design how production data from SQL Server on Azure will join existing AWS-based pipelines and a Snowflake data environment, evaluating options such as Synapse. - Build tested, documented dbt models for analytics in tools such as Power BI and Hex. - Partner with finance and sales to connect CRM and ERP data and align revenue and operating measures. - Establish practices for data quality, governance, ownership, and compliance with security and international data-handling requirements. - Help identify ways connected data can improve products and customer experiences.
Requirements
- Typically six or more years in data engineering, including ownership of platform-level design decisions. - Deep production experience with Snowflake and dbt, plus strong Python and SQL skills. - Working familiarity with Azure data services such as SQL Server, Data Factory, or Synapse. - Sound judgment across ingestion, orchestration, and modeling, with the ability to explain architectural choices. - Comfort making progress in ambiguous environments and documenting decisions so teams can understand and trust the data. - Experience translating business questions into data requirements and partnering across functions, ideally in a software or SaaS company.
Nice to have
- Experience building data systems for customer-facing products, including machine learning or AI features. - Work integrating data across cloud platforms or following a merger or acquisition. - Familiarity with Fivetran, Airflow, Dagster, data governance, SOC 2 controls, or data residency practices.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time remote role open to candidates in the United States. Most collaboration takes place during Eastern Time hours, with some flexibility for nearby time zones. - Early milestones include a platform assessment and plan, followed by integrating data so teams can use insights across the combined business.
