About this role

Role overview Join the engineering team building the discovery layer and library products for a pre-K–12 education technology platform used by teachers, administrators, and students. As a Software Engineer III, you will work with a high degree of independence, shaping how four connected products feel like a single library and helping introduce an AI-first software development model built on multi-agent orchestration.

Responsibilities - Build features across the discovery surface: search and browse experiences for teachers, curation and governance tools for admins, and exploration views for students. - Develop backend services that integrate relational databases, non-relational datastores, message queuing, and cloud infrastructure, all behind typed contracts. - Build and test frontend experiences in TypeScript and React, contract-tested against the backend, with accessibility treated as a first-class requirement. - Ship tests and instrumentation alongside each feature, including unit, component, and contract tests plus traces, metrics, and logs for debuggability. - Help craft and operate within an AI-first SDLC, encoding engineering knowledge into formal constraints that guide automated agent workflows.

Requirements - Professional experience building and shipping production web applications or services. - Hands-on work with relational databases (e.g., MSSQL, PostgreSQL) and comfort with non-relational datastores, message queuing, and cloud infrastructure. - Proficiency in a typed language, ideally TypeScript, in a strictly typed codebase. - Working knowledge of cloud operations, including deploying across environments, reading dashboards, and troubleshooting application issues. - Strong communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed engineering, product, and design teams. - Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have - Experience leading or mentoring other engineers. - Familiarity with AWS services and DevOps practices.

Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $99,500–$136,800, depending on experience and location. - Medical, prescription, dental, vision, and telehealth coverage; health savings and flexible spending accounts. - 401(k) and Roth 401(k) with company match; life and disability insurance. - Paid vacation and sick time, 12 paid holidays, and 20 weeks of parental leave (14 paid), plus milk-stork support. - Tuition reimbursement and well-being/employee assistance programs.
