Software Engineer II

Role overview A full stack engineering position with a strong backend emphasis, focused on building and maintaining scalable services, APIs, and React-powered frontend experiences that support personalized learning for pre-K–12 students. The role blends hands-on .NET Core backend development with React frontend collaboration, modern AI-assisted tooling, and agile delivery practices.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using .NET Core / .NET 5+, supporting React-based frontend applications. - Query and consume data from existing SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases to power product features. - Write and maintain unit and integration tests across backend and frontend components. - Translate product and user requirements into technical solutions in close collaboration with cross-functional teammates. - Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, and ongoing continuous improvement efforts. - Use AI-assisted development tools (such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code) to accelerate delivery and raise code quality.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years of experience developing backend applications with .NET Core or .NET 5+. - 4+ years of experience building frontend applications with React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript. - Hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs. - Working knowledge of SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including writing queries. - Experience writing unit tests and familiarity with common testing frameworks. - Proficiency with Git and standard version control workflows.

Nice to have - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern developer productivity workflows. - Exposure to microservices or service-oriented architectures. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized development using Docker. - Cloud experience with AWS or comparable platforms. - Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth, JWT, and RBAC. - Experience with GraphQL, message queues, or event-driven systems. - Domain knowledge in K–12 education, Student Information Systems, or EdTech.
