Billing Systems Architect

Role overview As a Billing Systems Architect, you will serve as the dedicated technical owner of an enterprise Quote-to-Cash platform that underpins revenue operations, pricing, and financial integrations across a cloud application platform. The role bridges Finance, Product, and Engineering, taking primary ownership from an implementation partner to maintain billing integrity while supporting new pricing model launches, complex usage rating schemes, and downstream system integrations.

Responsibilities - Configure and administer the BillingPlatform environment, including catalogs, price cards, usage rating rules, and automated invoice schedules - Manage ongoing platform health: system updates, pricing launches, recurring bill-run troubleshooting, sync exception handling, and root-cause analysis - Write SQL queries for data validation, rating engine auditing, and operational reporting, while collaborating with Engineering on mediated usage data intake - Maintain and optimize API-driven integrations connecting billing to upstream CRMs, downstream ERP/general ledger tools, and payment gateways - Partner with Accounting to align rating rules, revenue schedules, and ledger mappings with ASC 606 and IFRS 15 standards - Translate requirements from Accounting, Finance, Sales Ops, and Product into sustainable platform configuration, and manage subscription data migrations without disrupting revenue flows

Requirements - Proven hands-on experience configuring enterprise Quote-to-Cash or billing platforms such as BillingPlatform, Zuora, Salesforce Revenue Cloud/CPQ, NetSuite Billing, or Aria Systems - Strong SQL proficiency for querying and auditing billing data, with a solid grasp of REST APIs, webhooks, and ETL workflows - Experience supporting complex SaaS or infrastructure pricing models, including product-led growth, hybrid commitment-plus-usage, tiered rates, and consumption-based or metered billing - Practical understanding of revenue recognition fundamentals and how accounting rules shape billing engine design - Ability to translate between technical and financial language when collaborating with engineering and accounting stakeholders - Methodical approach to diagnosing sync errors, rating anomalies, and integration edge cases

Nice to have - Familiarity with DigitalRoute mediation software or Kafka event-stream data intake - Exposure to cloud infrastructure, PaaS, or developer-platform usage metrics - Background supporting system migrations or transitions from implementation partners
