Role overview
Analyze and annotate editorial, poster, marketing, and selected motion-design assets for a project focused on structured design understanding and AI training. The role requires translating visual decisions into precise metadata and written explanations covering composition, hierarchy, geometry, typography, style, framing, and movement. It suits an experienced designer comfortable combining visual judgment, production tools, and meticulous documentation in a remote contractor workflow.
Responsibilities
- Annotate print, digital, and short-video assets using an established schema and accurate design terminology. - Break finished designs into compositional layers and capture structured information about layout, hierarchy, geometry, typography, and style. - Describe video framing, camera movement, composition, and visual flow using appropriate cinematography language. - Produce exemplary annotations that can serve as quality references for the wider dataset. - Flag unclear cases, missing categories, and schema edge cases so annotation guidance can be improved. - Coordinate with project leads and quality reviewers as annotation standards evolve.
Requirements
- At least three to five years of experience in graphic design, editorial design, visual or brand design, layout, print, or art direction. - Portfolio demonstrating advanced command of typography, color, layout, composition, and visual hierarchy. - Expert proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or comparable design tools; relevant applications may include Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and After Effects. - Ability to explain design concepts precisely using established visual and composition vocabulary. - Strong written English for detailed annotations and structured documentation. - Background in editorial, poster, or marketing layout design.
Nice to have
- Seven or more years of experience or prior art-direction responsibility. - Experience with motion design, video editing, or cinematography. - Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, or an equivalent professional portfolio.
