Staff Cloud Security Engineer

Role overview

Staff-level cloud security engineer role on an information security team at a cloud-native SaaS company whose platform harmonizes and governs enterprise data for AI applications. The position drives the global enterprise security architecture, leads the security vision and roadmap, and partners with technology teams on implementation across regulated industries including life sciences, financial services, and healthcare.

Responsibilities

- Serve as a security subject matter expert, providing guidance on best practices and defense-in-depth strategies for security architecture - Recommend, test, design, deploy, and optimize threat detection and prevention solutions - Develop novel defense techniques to identify and stop advanced adversary tactics - Perform technical risk assessments of new technologies and ensure solutions meet secure architecture designs - Assess and communicate the risk impact of security deficiencies to stakeholders - Investigate security events and incidents using security tooling

Requirements

- 8+ years of experience in information security - Strong knowledge of cloud security across AWS, Azure, and GCP - Strong knowledge of industry-standard security technology including SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability scanning, DLP, firewall, IDS/IPS, and anti-malware tooling - Strong experience with scripting and infrastructure-as-code - Strong understanding of vulnerabilities and common attack vectors - Experience with industry frameworks such as SOC1/SOC2, HITRUST, and ISO, plus solid understanding of audit methodologies - Strong communication, presentation, and partnership skills, including leadership without direct authority

Nice to have

- Experience developing and operationalizing a vulnerability management program - Experience working with container-based architectures - Security and cloud certifications
