Role overview
Lead product and design strategy for a mission-driven technology organization working with public-sector partners and communities affected by the criminal justice system. The role combines organizational leadership, product direction, team development, and operational discipline to scale products that are useful in daily practice and produce measurable public impact.
Responsibilities
- Set product and design direction, clarify priorities, and connect individual team roadmaps to broader organizational goals. - Manage, mentor, and develop product managers, designers, and emerging leaders while strengthening team rituals and operating systems. - Partner with engineering, data, engagement, and marketing functions to build trust and improve cross-functional execution. - Keep product discovery grounded in the needs of frontline staff, government leaders, and justice-impacted people through empathetic, trauma-informed research. - Improve product-market-impact fit, expand successful capabilities to additional jurisdictions, and support sustained user adoption. - Introduce effective AI-assisted workflows for discovery, planning, and prototyping without compromising rigor or user empathy.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in product leadership. - Experience leading and elevating experienced product and design professionals into more strategic roles. - Background navigating complex environments with distinct end users, administrative buyers, and institutional partners. - Experience in or close collaboration with mission-driven, nonprofit, public-sector, or similarly service-oriented organizations. - Experience in a high-growth environment where processes and operating models were still being developed. - Familiarity with AI-assisted product development; experience with the criminal justice system is valuable.
