IT Security Analyst

Role overview

A defensive security role focused on protecting a manufacturing organization from sophisticated cyber threats, with primary emphasis on malware, virus, and software-vulnerability incidents. The position blends hands-on technical work with the Microsoft security suite, threat detection, and proactive incident response across an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

- Monitor security alerts, dashboards, and logs across Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Identity, Cloud Apps, Vulnerability Management), Purview, and Sentinel to detect and respond to incidents - Manage and optimize Microsoft Defender security policies and configurations across the enterprise - Use Microsoft Purview capabilities such as Data Loss Prevention and eDiscovery to enforce compliance and protect sensitive data - Develop and maintain custom detection rules and alerts addressing emerging threats - Serve as a primary responder for malware and endpoint incidents, performing forensic analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery - Conduct root cause analysis, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive measures - Analyze threat intelligence, proactively hunt for threats using tools such as Defender XDR, and develop defenses against prevalent malware families - Produce regular reports on security posture, incident metrics, and platform performance, and partner with IT to harden infrastructure

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience - Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Microsoft SC-100/200/300/400, CompTIA Security+/CySA+/SecurityX, or GIAC GSEC/GCIH - 3–5 years of demonstrated experience managing and configuring Microsoft Defender, Purview, and Sentinel - Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clarity in complex or ambiguous environments - Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide technical teams - Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or otherwise eligible under ITAR export-control regulations - Domestic travel up to 10% as business needs require

Nice to have

- Experience supporting aerospace and defense organizations subject to CMMC in Microsoft 365 GCC High - Proficiency with compliance tracking tools, GRC platforms, and project management tools

Benefits and work setup
