About this role

Role overview A senior engineering position focused on product and system safety for safety-critical airborne systems. The role drives safety strategy from requirements through certification, partnering with systems, software, hardware, firmware, and test teams across the full product lifecycle. It suits an experienced engineer who can lead hazard analyses, define assurance levels, and communicate risk across multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Evaluate system and program requirements to identify applicable safety standards and determine System, Software, Firmware, and Hardware Design Assurance Levels (DALs). - Develop, review, and approve Product Safety Program Plans and supporting safety documentation. - Lead or perform Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), FMEA, Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Common Cause Analyses (CCA), and Common Mode Analyses (CMA). - Translate assessment findings into clear safety requirements and mitigation strategies, then allocate them across engineering teams. - Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering methods to safety work. - Present technical material at design reviews, test readiness reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer safety reviews.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. - 5+ years in system safety, product safety, or aerospace systems engineering on safety-critical programs. - Hands-on background supporting airborne or aircraft systems in a safety-critical development environment. - Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882, ARP4754, and ARP4761. - Demonstrated experience performing FHA, FMEA, FTA, SSA, and related safety analyses. - Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging engineering teams, leadership, and customers.

Nice to have - Background in defense, avionics, flight control, propulsion, or aircraft control systems.
